Police recovered the bodies of two four-year-old girls from ground floor of a seven storey building at Shahjalal road area of Demra area in Dhaka on Monday night. Police detained two people for interrogation.
The deceased were identified as Nursat Jahan, daughter of Palash, and Faria Akhter Dola, daughter of Faridul of the area. Both the girls are playmates.
On information, police recovered the bodies from the ground floor of the building, said Siddiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Demra Police Station. It is assumed that the girls were tortured and strangled to death as injuries found in different parts of the bodies, the OC added.
One of the bodies was lying on a bed and the other under the bed. The man who rented the flat was at large. Police, however, could not confirm the reason behind the deaths. After recovery of the bodies, these were sent to the Salimullah Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Doctors of Forensic Department of the hospital said that the two girls were strangled to death.
The girls were missing since morning and their families made announcements through mikes for their whereabouts.
