Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police unearthed an organized lady gang of dope party, who were involved in looting valuables after making inmates senseless across the country.
They were also involved in double murder of a retired Bangladesh Bank official and his wife last year.
Detectives also found that in the dope party gang, a mother brought her daughter in the crime gang. Another mother also brought her son in the crime.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, Additional Deputy Commissioner of DB (East) Nazmul Hasan confirmed the finding.
He said, “After arresting seven female members of the dope party on April 12 this year, we came no know that the gang was involved in killing former Bangladesh Bank official Haji Abdus Sattar and his wife Sahera Khatun on August 26 last year.”
The arrested female members of the dope party also confessed to the murder of the couple in city’s Demra area.
ADC Nazmul said, “The gang was involved in looting valuables in different parts of the country including city’s Badda area and Barishal, Cumilla, Feni, Noakhali, Khulna, Chattogram and Narayanganj.”
After arresting seven members of the group, we came to know detailed identities of another fifty females who are also involved in the crime, he added.
There are at least four to five criminal cases against these females in different police stations.
During the primary interrogation, the arrested females disclosed that they had looted valuables after they went inside their targeted flats in the name of renting flats.
While discussing about different issues of rent, they become very close with the house owners.
The arrested dope party members have been identified as Sima, wife of Rasel, Lipi, wife of Dil Mohammad, hailing from Mijimiji Dakkhin Para of Narayanganj, Baby Akter alias Bokul, wife of late Delwar Hossain, hailing from Dakkhin Badur of Ramganj Upazila of Laximpur district, Amirun alias Amirunnesa, wife of Bashir, Taslima Akter Mona alias Moyna, wife of Mujibar, both hailing from Nilkhi of Homna Upazila under Comilla district, Kolsum alias Sathi, wife of Rubel, hailing from Hashimpur of Chandia Upazila under Comilla district.
DB team also arrested one male who was later identified as Monir Hossain alias Babu, son of Amir Hossain, hailing from Mijimiji under Siddhirganj Upazila under Narayanganj district. Monir is the son of Amirunnesa. Sima is the daughter of Lipi.
As part of their plan, Lipi, Amirunnesa, Mukta went to the residence of deceased Haji Abdus Satter at East Boxnagor area under Demra Police Station on August 25 last year. They rented a room at monthly Tk 2,200. Earlier they also bought some sedative tablets, later made these tablets into powder and others which are used to make their targeted persons senseless.
On the day of the double murder, Shima, her mother Lipi, Komoli, Baby alias Bokul went to the flat of the deceased couple again.
They cunningly became very close with the couple. At one stage, they took cold water from the fridge. They prepared four glasses of Sherbet by mixing curd which they had carried with them. They secretly mixed the sedative powder into the two glasses of curd and convinced the couple to drink it. Haji Sattar and his wife Sahera drank the two glasses of the curd. Few moments later, the couple became senseless. To make them deeply senseless, the dope party members pasted henna on the heads of the couple. Within moments, the couple went to deep sleep. Getting the chance, the dope party members looted the ear ring from the ear of Sahera, two small charger lights and two old maxi. They sold the gold ornaments for Tk 4,700 and distributed the money among them.
Responding to a question, ADC Nazmul said, “We shall continue our drives to arrest all the members of the gang soon.”
He however denied to disclose the names and identities of the absconding members of the gang for the sake of investigation.
Dope party members killed an officer of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) in Mirpur on July 2007 and looted all his valuables, media reports had claimed. The body of Sheikh Atiar Rahman, deputy assistant director of the NSI in Kushtia, was found near the Nam flats at Mirpur-10 intersection.
