Traditional kite festival held with enthusiasm at Jamuna River’s hard point at Sirajganj. This year the festival draws huge crowds.
With the slogan ‘Children’s are future, safe and secured entertainment for them’ the kite festival held amid festivity. Water Resources Ministry Secretary Kabir Bin Anwar inaugurate the festival as chief guest recently.
On eve of Bangla New Year, Sirajganj Facebook team and Isabela Foundation organize the festival where people from all spare of the society participated.
Organizer said, kite festival is one of the major part of Bangla art and cultural heritage. Highlighting such kite programme a good number of people and tourist are visiting the place. This programme needs to promote more.
Due to rapid urbanization the popular kite festival of the village areas has been facing extinction, which needs to care and save for the future generation- they added.
The part of the hard point sky covered with full of kites of various shapes and sizes till the sun set throughout the festival.
Earlier on that day, kite drawing competition for children held and later they fly their draw kite in the sky. In the evening, the participating crowd set off ‘fanush’ (sky lanterns).
In the festival, as special guest district commissioner Kamrun Nahar Siddiue was present. Among others, police super Tutul Chakravarty, municipality mayor Sayed Abdur Rauf Mukta, former commander of district Muktijoddha Shafiqul Islam Shafi were present at the programme.
