Primeasia University (PU) has celebrated the Pahela Baishakh of Bengali New Year 1426 on 14 April, 2019 at Banani Bidyaniketon School and College field, in the capital.
Md Nazrul Islam, chairman, Board of Trustees of PU inaugurated the Pahela Baishakh festival as the chief guest.
Raihan Azad, member, Board of Trustees of PU, Md Azahar Khan, chairman of Mithela Group, luminary Bangladeshi Nazrul Geeti singer Fatema Tuz Zohra were present in the program as special guests.
Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor (VC) of PU presided over the programme.
A K M Ashraful Haque, treasurer, Abul Kashem Molla, registrar, Professor Dr A H M Habibur Rahman, dean, School of Business, Professor Sk Md Hasanuzzaman, dean, School of Engineering and Professor Dr A J M Omar Faruque, dean, School of Biological Science attended the programme.
All heads of the departments, faculty members, officers and students with their guardians were present. Eminent cultural personalities, politicians, educationists, high officials from the government of Bangladesh also attended the programme.
Prominent Artists of Bangladesh and students of PU participated in a colorful cultural programme. Students of Cultural Club of PU performed dance, folk and Baul songs in the daylong cultural program.
Apart from these, the audience was amazed with the traditional exhibition of bioscope, monkey dance, putul nach, chorki and nagordola.
The students of different departments have displayed special and colorful food stalls where traditional regional pitha, sweets, firni and bengali foods and beverages have been arranged for the attendees.
About 4 thousand students from different department of PU along with the alumni and invited distinguished guests took part in the pahela baishakh celebration.
