Authorities of Petua Adarsha High School at Kadirganj union parishad under Karimganj upazila in the district alleged that the government development activities were being hindered due to the vested interest of some locals.
Head Mistress Monira Akhter Khatun and President of the managing committee,
Mohammad Anisur Rahman raised the allegation on Tuesday.
They said, government has recently allocated Tk 75 lakh for constructing a new building in the school. When the public auctioned declared to sell 9 trees of that school to clear places, Zillur Rahman and Shahjahan forbade cutting trees demanding that they are the owner of the trees. They are also harassing the school committee with false accusations.
Locals said, Thirteen years ago, Md Sirajuddin donated 64 percent of the property to the school. When the development activities started after the government’s allocation for the new buildings, Zillur Rahman and Shahjahan claimed illegally that the trees located in their own land which is completely false and fabricated. We strongly condemn it.
School guardian members said that school plants were sold through a public auctions, according to the government policy by Karimganj Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Forest Department. After cutting 8 trees, they made a hindrance cutting the last tree. They cannot claim the government properties as their own.
Speaking to the opponent, it is known that a batuara case is running on this property.
Because of cutting down our trees, they have filed a criminal case against 23 people, including
headmaster. Karimganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Sharmin Sultana said, the building will be constructed according to the government rules.
They, who claim that those property belonged to them, filed a complaint with me. I sent a surveyor to investigate, he did not submit the report yet. After getting the inquiry report, I will take an action in this regard.
