Stocks witnessed a downward trend on Tuesday mainly due to price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the broader index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the day with 37.61 points down to 5,552.81, while the Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 shed 3.37 points to 1,271.01 and 9.34 points to 1,950.33 respectively.
The turnover in volume fell to 17.04 crore shares from Monday’s 18.41 crore shares. But the turnover in value at DSE increased to Taka 716.99 crore from Taka 707.89 crore of the previous session.
At DSE, out of the day’s 334 securities, prices of 64 securities closed higher against 228 losing issues.
The major gaining issues were BSCCL, NHFIL, Intech, NAHEEACP and Northern while the major losing companies were Savar EFR, Tosrifa, Green Delta Mutual Fund, ATCSLGF and DBH1STMF.
KPCL topped the turnover list followed by Confidence Cement, BBS Cables and NAHEEACP.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 133.60 points down at 17,070.09.
At CSE, 248 issues were traded. Of those, 56 closed higher and 166 closed lower when 82.94 lakh shares worth Taka 26.32 crore changed hands.
